The Toledo War was a territorial dispute between Michigan-icon.png Michigancube and Ohio-icon.png OhioRawr.

    History[edit | edit source]

It all started when USA-icon.png USAball was looking to expand it's claims and maybe massacre a few 3-icon.png natives here and there. Eventually, they reached the Mid-Western states, and it was here that they established USA-icon.png Northwest Territoryball, a long territorial goverment that streatched from present day Ohio-icon.png OhioRawr to Minnesota-icon.png North Minnesota. Now, in the USA-icon.png American Goverment Territories aren't supposed to stay territories for long. Usually, a territory is just a way to establish the land and give it a cause, and then once it has one it's off to statehood. Anyway, as these states started getting established, the USA-icon.png Union wanted them to have fair and equal borders. When establishing Ohio-icon.png Ohio Country', they decided to make a border that went from the bottom of lake Michigan in the west, to the bottom of lake Erie in the east. North of this line would be the future state of Michigan-icon.png Michigancube and south of this line would be the future state of Ohio-icon.png OhioRawr (Also Indiana-icon.png Indianaball). However, the cartographers who drew the map didn't do the best. Some maps showed Ohio-icon.png Ohio getting Michigan-icon.png Michigan's coast of lake Erie. Some even showed Ohio-icon.png OhioRawr getting present day Detroit-icon.png Detroitball. During the Ohio Constitutional Convention, a fur trader said that the Ohio-icon.pngMichigan-icon.png Ohio-Michigan Border was actually much more south than everyone said it was. In fact, it was so south that it blocked off a crucial waterway for Ohio-icon.png OhioRawr, the Maumee River. The Ohio-icon.png Ohians were freaked out and pushed their border north of the Ohio-icon.png Maumee river, in hopes that the federal government wouldn't notice when Ohio was admitted as a state in 1803. The plan was all good except for the problem that people did notice. While surveying the southern area of Michigan, they found that the border was in fact, north of the Maumee River. However, the Government thought that it would just sort itself out, and they didn't intervene for a while. Finnally, a guy went overthere and concluded that the border which gave Ohio-icon.png OhioRawr the town of Ohio-icon.png Toledo (Ohio-icon.png Toledoball is a town at the mouth of the Maumee river) was the correct one. The problem was, the guy might of been a bit biased because he was the former governor of {{I|Ohio}] OhioRawr, so Michigan-icon.png Michigancube was gonna put up a fight. Several survey's took place, each with different results. For a while, every one kind of forgot about and the Toledo Strip remained quite peaceful until December 11th, 1833. That was when Michigan wanted to become a state. Ohio-icon.png OhioRawr was like nope, not unless you agree to our border. Michigan-icon.png Michigancube got mad and sent Militia down to Toledoball. This was the begining of the Toledo War. Ohio responded by sending Ohio-icon.png Ohio Militia Groups. Meanwhile, Michigan-icon.png Michigancube had taken over the town of Toledo, and it was mostly under their control. Ohio-icon.png OhioRawr did not advance on the town however, and so a stalemate took place. There wasn't actually any battles in the war, except for The Battle of Philips Corner, which no casualties happened. The whole war got the attention of USA-icon.png USAball, and shut it down, giving The Toledo Strip to Ohio-icon.png OhioRawr because Michigan-icon.png Michigancube wasn't willing to cooperate.
