The Issaq Genocide was Somali Democratic Republicball's systematic extermination of its minority ethnic Somalilandballs by Siad Barre's Regime, which lies within part of modern Somaliaball's territory. The genocide started in 1987 and was carried out during Cold War, though Issaqs had been sporadically removed before then since the 1980s. The Issaq Genocide consisted of both mass murder and the deportation of ethnic Somalilandballs.
The Genocide[edit]
Hundreds of Somaliland intellectuals were killed on 1987. Laws were passed to fully depopulate Issaqs. Villages were burned, people who escaped walked into the desert and died, and killing squads were sent to hunt down any survivors. The Siad Barre Regime Soldiers not only tracked down Issaqs. 200,00 Issaqs in total died. it was act of genocide by Siad Barre's Regime.
