Fort Worthball is a Texan cityball. He is famous for the Fort Worth Stockyards. He also created the genre, western swing. He also has the Kimbell Art Museum and the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.

    History

He was born on September 29, 1843 when the Treaty of Bird's Fort was signed between the Republic of Texasball and various indian tribes. He was founded as a cityball in 1849 as an army outpost on a bluff overlooking the Trinity River. The USS Fort Worth was named after him.

He got the nickname 'Panther City' from a former Fort Worth resident in Dallas who wrote about him in the Dallas Herald in 1875 when Fort Worth was suffering economic problems from a nasty winter in 1873. "Fort Worth was so slow that I saw a panther asleep in the street by the courthouse." Fort Worth citizens embraced the name as Fort Worth recovered soon after in 1876.

He invented western swing in the 1930s. Prominent bands were the Light Crust Doughboys, Ocie Stockard and the Wanderers, Bob Willis and his Texas Playboys, The Musical Brownies, and many more.
