Former Liangball was one of the sixteen kingdoms that emerged during the tumultuous period of Chinese history known as the Sixteen Kingdoms. The kingdom was founded in 320 CE by Zhang Gui, a general serving under the 
Jinball. Zhang Gui declared himself the Prince of Liang and established his capital in Guzangball, which is now modern-day Wuweiball in Gansuball. The kingdom was initially successful and expanded its territory through a series of military campaigns, but it was eventually conquered by 
Former Qinball in 376 CE.
