Twitter Palmyrene Empireball was a short-lived breakaway countryball in the Middle East that seceded from SPQRball for a few years.

History

Palmyraball had an ancient Semitic foundation, and due to its closeness to the Syrian desert, it was occupied by Arabballs. It was during SPQRball history however, that Palmyraball emerged, refusing to Hellenize and Romanize like other Arabballs in the Orient.

At the time, SPQRball was in a complicated moment, the murder of its emperor led to squabbles over control of the empire, which resulted in SPQRball suffering bitter defeats to Sassanidball. In the midst of that, Arab Palmyrene leader Odaenathus declared himself king and led successful offensives against Sassanidball.

Odaenathus regained all territories previously to Sassanidball, becoming rex regime (King of Kings) in all of Syria, Mesopotamia, and Eastern Anatolia. Odaenathus was however assassinated in 267 along with his son, being succeeded by his ambitious wife Zenobia, who invaded Egypt and rose against SPQRball.

Zenobia claimed ancestry from the Arabballs of the Emesene dynasty, who ruled Emessaball (nowadays Homsball), as well as from Cleopatra VII from Ptolemaic Egyptball. She was able to conquer most of the Levant as well as Egypt in 270 AD, though such conquests were done under the protective show of subordination to SPQRball.

SPQRball's emperor Aurelian launched then in 272 AD an expedition against Zenobia's Palmyrene Empireball with the support of other Arabballs such as Tanukhidsball. Palmyraball was then destroyed in 273 AD. Even after its destruction, Palmyraball still played a major role in the history of SPQRball in the East.

The fall of Palmyraball made Medinaball, then Meccaball, the new leading Arab desert caravan cities, creating a rivalry between them culminating in Medinaball supporting Muhammad against Meccaball in the 7th century, facilitating the rise of Islam.
