Osroeneball was an Aramaic-speaking Arab Kingdomball in Upper Mesopotamia.
History
Nabateaball took advantage of the decline of Seleucidball in the second century BC and expanded into some parts of Syriaball. The Abgarids, Arabballs from Nabateaball, established then Osroeneball in Edessaball in 132 BC, ruling it for the next five centuries.
Osroeneball was in the first fifty years a tributary state of Kingdom of Armeniaball, before becoming fully independent as a result of Kingdom of Armeniaball’s defeat by SPQRball. Subsequently, Osroeneball balanced its relations with both SPQRball and Parthiaball, till it started to tend more toward Parthiaball.
Osroeneball was ruled according to Arab traditions through a council of tribal elders, even after it had undergone superficial Hellenization. It had a syncretic composite nature, incorporating Babylonian, Aramaean, Assyrian, Arab, Jewish, Hellenistic and Iranian elements.
Osroeneball tolerated Christianity in a period when its fortunes were affected by persecutions. Its king, Abgar V, is most remembered for his supposed conversion to Christianity, even having correspondence with Jesus himself. The Syriac language was also developed in Osroeneball under its Abgarid dynasty.
Under Emperor Caracalla, SPQRball ended Osroeneball's independence in 214 AD, transforming it into a province, that later became part of Byzantineball.
