Nabateaball also known as the Nabataean Kingdomball were an ancient Arab countryball that lived in the territory of modern-day Jordanball, Saudi Arabiaball, Palestineball, Syriaball and Egyptball governorates of North and South Sinaiball.

History

Nabateaball is known from Hebrew and Assyrian sources as early as the seventh century BC, they most likely descended from the Qedarite Arabballs that were originally nomads from Syriaball desert. Nabateaball spoke a dialect akin to modern Arabic, and their script is a forerunner of the Arabic one.

By the end of the fourth century BC Nabateaball established a base at Petraball which gradually grew in wealth from its location alongside several important desert spice trade routes, and they also harvested asphalt from the Dead Sea which was an important commodity in the ancient world.

Nabateaball prouded itself in not having been enslaved by any empire that ruled the region. Assyriaball, Babylonball, Medesball, Achaemenidball and Macedonball, none were able to enslave it.

When Macedonball was ruling Syriaball, it tried to take over Petraball, but failed in a campaign in 312 BC. Out of its dislike toward Macedonball and its successor Seleucidball, Nabateaball was an ally of Hasmoneancube during the Maccabean Revolt.

Nabateaball and Seleucidball were in constant hostilities, with the later attempting to invade Nabateaball in 87. Nabateaball decisively beat Seleucidball at the Battle of Cana, and as a result, expanded greatly at the expense of Seleucidball, extending as far as Damascusball.

Nabateaball was also the origins of Herodiancube, Herod the Great - infamous king of Judeacube at the time of Jesus’s birth, was the children of a Nabataean princess, that married Antipater, also a Nabataean from Idumeaball.

In 63 BC SPQRball arrived and started to halt Nabataeaball's expansion. A peace treaty was initially drawn wherein Nabataeaball became a client kingdom to SPQRball. In 8 BC King Arethas IV ascended to the throne of Nabateaball, that under his rule reached the peak of its prosperity.

When Herod Antipas - son of Herod the Great, from Herodiancube, divorced the daughter of Arethas, objections by John the Baptist led to his execution. Nabateaball sent an army that defeated Antipas and invaded Herodiancube. SPQRball recognized Arethas as king, who in turn placed a considerate army at the disposal of SPQRball when it battled the rebelling Jewcubes in 4 BC.

Nabateaball managed to maintain a significant degree of autonomy until the 2nd century AD, when the region was annexed by SPQRball. Annexation by SPQRball marked the end of the Nabataeans' political independence. A dynasty of Nabataean origin, the Abgarids, still reigned at Osroeneball in Syriaball until AD 214.
