Lakhmidsball was a historical Arab countryball that served as buffer state client state of Sassanidsball. He fought along Sassanidsball in the Roman-Persian Wars.

    History

Lakhmidsball were initially a branch of Tanukhidsball, who descended from the Abgarids of Northern Mesopotamia, the same who used to rule Osroeneball. Lakhmidsball established a kingdom in central Iraqball, with its capital in Al-Hiraball, and ruled it for three centuries circa 300-600 AD. In effect they replaced ancient Arab kingdoms in the region such as the Kingdom of Arabahball.

It acted as a buffer zone between Sassanidball and Arabian tribes that frequently raided its clay. Lakhmidsball was a client state of Sassanidball hence he was a participant in the Roman-Persian Wars.

Like other Arabballs of his time, Lakhmidsball had converted to Christianity, adopting Nestorianism, a non-Chalcedonian Christian branch, which didn't affect its relationship with Sassanidball. Lakhmidsball expanded then the Nestorian Church of the East throghout Eastern Arabian Peninsula.

Lakhmidsball was annexed by Sassanidball because the Lakhmid king wouldn't let Sassanid Shah Khosrow II marry his daughter. This led to Lakhmidball's allies in Arabia defeating Sassanidball at the Battle of Dhu Nuwas. The buffer state between the Arab tribes and Sassanidball was gone, which was one of the factors contributing to the Muslim Conquest of Persia.

    Islamic Conquest

Having had their kingdom annexed by Sassanidball, many Lakhmidsball allied with Byzantineball and Ghassanidsball, their former enemies, during the early Islamic conquests, as both followed Christianity. Some Lakhmidsball in the Arabian Peninsula converted to Islam early on however.

Later on, Lakhmidsball supported Umayyadball against Ali, the last Calihp of Rashidunball. They suppressed anti- Umayyadball rebels in the Hejaz, in present-day Saudi Arabiaball, as well as forming the tribal soldiery of the Jund Filastin district of the Caliphate, in Palestineball.

Descendants of Lakhmidsball later reigned under Taifa of Sevilleball after the fall of Caliphate of Córdobaball. Today, their ancestors can be found in Iraqball, Omanball and UAEball, as well as Lebanonball among Druzeballs.
