Hasmoneancube was a Jewish kingdomcube that ruled Judea and other surrounding regions during the Hellenistic period of classical antiquity.

History

Hasmoneancube traces its origins to the Maccabean Revolt against Seleucidball, the empire that ruled Judeacube at the time. The revolt counted with the foreign support of Nabateaball and SPQRball, turning out to be a success and ending with the Jewcubes receiving autonomy.

Hasmoneancube claimed ancestry from Kingdom of Judahcube, but it existed in a very different context from the ancient Israelite kingdomcubes, during the Hellenistic times of classical antiquity, where the Jewish religion found itself in the Second Temple period.

Hasmoneancube governed Judeacube semi-autonomously under Seleucidball, and from roughly 110 BCE, with the empire disintegrating, it gained further autonomy and expanded into other clays in the area, such as Pereaball, Samariaball, Idumeaball, Galileeball, and Itureaball.

Hasmoneancube expansionist campaigns came to an end after it took some territories in Transjordanball, which angered Nabateaball (their previous allies), that ambushed Hasmoneancube and almost had their king killed. Hasmoneancube ceded then the acquired territories in Transjordanball back to Nabateaball.

The defeat caused internal crises, as the kingdom was not very stable to begin with. There was rivalry between Hasmoneancube leaders and different Jewish religious groups, notably the Sadducees and Pharisees, who vied for influence. All this ended in a civil war between claimants to the throne, fought between Hyrcanus II and Aristobulus II.

Out of that, SPQRball intervened in Judeacube, entering Jerusalemcube and putting an end to Hasmoneancube. SPQRball intervention, however, didn't put an end to the conflicts between Jewcubes, in fact it only plunged them into the internal conflicts between the Romans themselves, ending up involving Judeacube in the war with Parthiaball.

In the end, with SPQRball support, Herod (former Governor of Galileeball) emerged victorious against Parthiaball-backed Antigonus, founding Herodiancube. From that time on, Judeacube became a client state of SPQRball and eventually a Roman province.
