Ketsball is a tribeball from Siberiaball. It is part of the Yeniseian family, being their last surviving member. Before 1960, it was considered one with the now-extinct Yughball.

    History

The Yeniseianballs originated before 500 BC, possibly having a relationship with the Na-Dené 3balls, they later joined Xiongnuball (or might have been the founding tribeball).

In around 1 AD, it split into Northern and Southern Yeniseianballs.

After the fall of Xiongnuball, they started to migrate northwards, and in around 700 the Northern Yeniseianballs split into Yughball and Ketball.

Meanwhile in the 4th century, a Xiongnuball group called Jie (Kiat in Middle Chinese) emerged in Northern China, founding Later Zhaoball in 319; it is hypothesised that it was related to the Yeniseianballs, but others consider it Turkic.

Everything was almost the same from c. 700 to 1600.

Then The Ketballs were incorporated into the Tsardom of Russiaball in the 17th century. Their efforts to resist were futile as the Russians deported them to different places to break up their resistance. This also broke up their strictly organized patriarchal social system and their way of life disintegrated. The Ket people ran up huge debts with the Russians. Some died of famine, others of diseases introduced from Europe.

By the 19th century, the Ketballs could no longer survive without food support from the Russian Empireball.

Today, they have adopted Russian lifestyle but try hard to keep their culture alive.
