Gurjara-Pratiharaball was a 
Indian dynastic empire.
History
Gurjara-Pratiharaball was formed out of the Gurajara tribes of 
Rajputanaball. Nagabhata I established the kingdom after defeating Umayyadball's invasion forces along with a confederacy of Indian rulers. The kingdom rapidly expanded. Vatsaraja, grand-newphew of Nagabhata I was defeated by Dhruva Dharavarsha of Rashtrakutaball. The Tripartite Struggle for Kannaujball was on, including the 3 imperial powers of India- Gurjara-Pratiharaball, Rashtrakutaball & Palaball.
Pratihara power was revived by Vatsaraja's successor Nagabhata II, who captured Kannaujball from Pala Empireball, the ultimate prize city in those times. But yet again he was defeated by Govinda III of Rashtrakutaball, son of Dhruva Dharavarsha.
Gurjara-Pratihara power was yet again revived by Mihira Bhoja, who captured Kannaujball and would remain the Pratihara capital for the rest of its existence. Gurjara-Pratiharaball reached its extent under Mihira Bhoja and his son Mahendrapala I.
Decline
After Mahendrapala I's death a war of succession between his sons weakened the empire which gave vassals the opportunity to gain independence or at least influence. Mahendrapala II was the last effective Pratihara monarch and after him, one by one all of their vassals declared independence, who had gained immense influence by then.
The Pratihara territory was reduced to a small state centred around Kannaujball. During the reign of Rajyapala, Ghaznavidsball under Mahmud of Ghazni invaded North India, devastating many states including that of the Pratiharas. The last known ruler is a certain Yasahpala of Kannaujball, who died in 1036. Thus the Pratihara dynasty came to an end.
