Province of Hesse-Nassauball was a Prussian province in mostly modern day Hesseball.

History

Hesse-Nassauball was created as a consequence of the Austro-Prussian War of 1866 by combining the previously independent Hesse-Kasselball, Duchy of Nassauball, Free City of Frankfurtball, areas gained from Kingdom of Bavariaball, and areas gained from Grand Duchy of Hesseball (including part of the former Landgraviate of Hesse-Homburgball). These regions were combined to form the Province of Hesse-Nassauball in 1868 with its capital in Kasselball and redivided into two administrative regions: Kasselball and Wiesbadenball. The largest part of the province surrounded the province of Upper Hesseball in Grand Duchy of Hesseball ( People's State of Hesseball from 1918).

On 1 April 1929, Free State of Waldeckball became a part of Hesse-Nassauball after a popular vote, becoming part of the Kasselball administrative region.

In 1935, the Nazi government de facto abolished all states, so the provinces held little meaning. Nevertheless, effective 1 July 1944, Hesse-Nassauball was split into the provinces of Kurhessenball (capital in Kasselball) and Nassauball (capital in Wiesbadenball). In 1945, after the end of World War II, these two provinces were re-merged and combined with most of the neighbouring People's State of Hesseball to form Greater Hesseball, which became the modern state of Hesseball in 1946. Parts of Nassauball were also moved into the Rhineland-Palatinateball.
