Chūgokuball NOT CHINA is a region of Japanball. The Chugoku region is in the southwest of Japan's main island and includes the prefectures of Tottoriball, Shimaneball, Okayamaball, Hiroshimaball and Yamaguchiball.

The Kanji for Chugoku is 中国 , which is the same as the Japanese word for China, which means “middle country”. Because this name is a bit strange for a region of Japan, the alternative Sanin-Sanyo name for the region is often used. San'in (“yin of the mountains”) is the northern part facing the Sea of Japan. San'yō (“yang of the mountains”) is the southern part facing the Inland Sea of Seto. These names were created using the yin-yang based place naming scheme.

The Chugoku region has several distinct dialects of Japanese. Hiroshima-ben is a typical dialect of the Chugoku region. People from the region (mainly Hiroshima) are stereotyped as combative, hot-tempered people looking for a fight, like the Bōsōzoku (Japanese motorcycle gangs). A equivalent in American English to their dialect is the accent of Chicago or Detroit.

Some parts of the region are heavily industrialized and others are rural.

Chugoku has a population of approximately 7.5 million and Hiroshima is its largest city.
