Amazonasball is a stateball of Peruball.

File:Amazonas (Peru)-icon.png Amazonasball is one of the twenty-four departments that, together with the Constitutional Province of Callaoball, form the Republic of Peruball.

Its capital is Chachapoyasball and its most populated city is Bagua Grandeball. It covers 39.2 thousand km² of rugged territory, mostly covered by the thick jungle of the tributaries of the Marañon River, such as the Santiago River and the Utcubamba River. Located in the north of the country, it borders the departments of Cajamarcaball to the west, File:La Libertad (Peru)-icon.png La Libertadball to the south, San Martínball to the southeast, and Loretoball to the east, as well as the Republic of Ecuadorball to the north.

    History

Amazonasball born as a 3ball, adopted by Incaball, Spanish Empireball (within New Spainball and Viceroyalty of Peruball), Gran Colombiaball, Ecuadorball, Peru-Bolivian Confederationball ( North Peruball) and Peruball.

Around 1475 the region was annexed to the Inca Empire; then, the Spaniards invaded the territory and founded on September 5, 1538 the very noble and loyal city of San Juan de la Frontera de los Chachapoyasball today known simply as Ciudad de Chachapoyasball. From then on it became the capital of eastern Peruball, since Chachapoyasball gravitated as the center of operations for the conquest of the jungle. In the end, the inhabitants supported the independence and in April 1821 seconded the action of the army of Jose de San Martin y Matorras, ignoring the Spanish authority.

As a consequence, the great battle of Higos Hurcos took place on June 6, 1821, where the patriotic forces of the Amazon under the command of Matea Rimachi won the victory for freedom from Spanish domination.

    Recent History

Since the independence of Peruball, the northern zone of Amazonasball was in dispute with Ecuadorball, in 1942 after the war of 1941, the Rio de Janeiro protocol was signed where the northern zone was legally annexed to Amazonasball, although Ecuadorball was not very happy after this.

In 1995, the border zone with Ecuadorball was the scene of the Cenepa War.5

In 2009, a social conflict caused by the enactment of two legislative decrees affecting indigenous communities caused a confrontation between police and natives known as Baguazo, leaving 33 people dead.
