Many suffer so that some day all Irish people may know justice and peace.

    — Theobald Wolfe Tone, prominent United Irishman

Irish Republicball, also known as Repblic of Connachtball, was a French Irish puppet, unrecognized by other countries. He was created by the Society of United Irishmen on the 31st of August 1798 during the Irish Rebellion of 1798. He claimed the clay of all Ireland, but in reality only had clay in small parts of Connacht. He barely survived a month before being defeated by Great Britainball, who wanted to suppress the Irish independence movement and keep the French out of the British Isles.

    History

Ireland had been for centuries mistreated by the English, causing previous Irish Independence Movements to rise and fall. The Society of United Irishmen was an Irish society formed in 1791 and was ideologically inspired by the revolutions in the United States and France. Initially, the society just wanted equal representation in the British government, but as time went on their political views shifted towards total independence from Britain. To help in their fight for independence, the United Irishmen requested military aid from France, who agreed to the alliance. (mostly because they wanted a client state in the British Isles)

In late May of 1798, the United Irishmen began the rebellion. Tens of thousands of Irishballs armed with pikes rose up all over Ireland, most notably in County Wexford. The rebellion in Wexford saw brutal massacres carried out by both United Irish and British commanders against each other and civilians. The United Irish forces in Wexford were eventually squashed at the Battle of Vinegar Hill on June 21st. The rebellion mostly died down until the arrival of French forces in County Mayo on August 22nd. On the 27th of August the French and United Irish, led by General Jean Humbert, marched on the town of Castlebar in County Mayo. The combined Franco-Irish force decimated the royal militia at Castlebar despite the 3,000-man British advantage. On the 31st of August, General Jean Humbert made a proclamation at Castlebar declaring the formation of an Independent Irish Republic and the Irishman John Moore as its President.

The Franco-Irish force defeated the British at Collooney on the 5th of September, only to suffer a crushing defeat at Ballinamuck on September 8th, resulting in the surrender of General Humbert and his entire Franco-Irish army, as well as the capture of President John Moore. Surviving Irish Guerillas continued fighting until September 23rd, when a large Irish force was defeated at the Battle of Killala, marking the last major engagement of the rebellion and the dissolution of the Irish Republic.
