Omdurmanball is a cityball of Sudanball, founded in 1884.The city is an important crossroads of roads from Chadball 
, Ethiopiaball 
and Egyptball 
. The city has an Islamic University (founded in 1912), a large market, a theater, the Abdullah Museum, the Mahdi Mausoleum, leather, iron, food and textile industries.
In the years 1885 - 1898 after the destruction of Khartoum, it became the capital of the state of Mahdi Muhammad Ahmad ibn Abdullah as a relatively small settlement. After the defeat of the Mahdists in 1898 by Britishball 
, Khartoumball became the capital and a large part of Umm Durmanball was destroyed.
