North Kalimantanball Northeast Kalimantanball is a provinceball of 
Indonesiaball. North Kalimantanball is the least populated and one of the most least densely provinceball in Indonesiaball with population about 768505 people with 70% of the population live in Tarakanball, Malinauball, Nunukanball, and Tanjung Selorball and about 97% of its land is unhabitable. Its province become isolated together with 
West Papuaball and Papuaball because only one road that connect North Kalimantanball with the rest of Kalimantan.

In the history of the countries in the northern part of the island of Borneo, which includes 
Sarawakball, 
Sabahball, 
Bruneiball. From the Hindu era until the time before the formation of the Sultanate of Bulunganball, the area which is now the territory of the province of North Kalimantanball to the Kinabatangan area in eastern Sabah is the mandala region of the Berau state called Nagri Marancang. However, recently the northern part of Nagri Marancang (aka Eastern Sabah) was separated from Berau because it was claimed as the mandala area of Brunei, then Brunei was awarded the Sultanate of Sulu and the Suluk Tribe began to settle in some of the areas. Then the 
British Empireball controlled the northern Nagri Marancang and the 
Dutch Empireball controlled the southern Nagri Marancang (now Kaltara province).
The area which became the province of North Kalimantanball was the former territory of the Sultanate of Bulungan. The Sultanate of Bulungan became the area for expanding the influence of the 
Sultanate of Suluball. However, the Berau Kingdom (which is the parent of the Sultanate of Bulungan) according to Hikayat Banjar was one of the vassals or states in the state mandala of the Banjar Sultanate since ancient times, when the Banjar Sultanate was still called the Kingdom of the State of Dipaball (Hindu era). Until 1850, Bulungan country was still claimed as a vassal country in the state mandala of the Sultanate of Sulu. However, in 1853, Bulunganball was included in the territory of the Dutch East Indieballs or again became part of Berauball. Although recently the country of Bulunganball was under the rule of the Prince of Brunei, the country was still included in the mandala of the Berauball state.
Based on the agreement between the Banjar Sultanateball and the 
Dutch East Indiesball which was made on 13 August 1787 and 4 May 1826, legally the Banjar Sultanateball became a protectorate of the Dutch East Indiesball and several states and states that were claimed to be the former Banjarball vazal were handed over as property of the Dutch East Indiesball. including Berauball and its conquered areas, the Dutch Company made the boundaries of its territory which it obtained from Banjar based on the agreement, namely the westernmost area was the state of Sintangball, the area of Lawai and the Jelai River Basin (one of the Kotawaringin Kepageranan areas within the Banjarball sultanate state) while the easternmost region is the state of Berau. The state of Berau includes the Sultanate of Mount Tabur, the land of the Sultanate of Tanjungball / Sambaliung, the country of the Sultanate of Bulungan & the Tidung district which was abolished in 1916. Based on the map of the Dutch East Indiesball, 1878 at that time shows the position of the border was further north than the Kaltara-Sabah border today, because covers all Tidung tribal villages in the Tawau region.

The office of the Governor of North Kalimantanball, is located in the city of Tanjung Selorball.
The process of dividing North Kalimantan into a separate province from 
East Kalimantanball began in the 2000s. After going through a long process, the formation of the province of North Kalimantanball was finally approved in the DPR plenary meeting on October 25, 2012
