In 852AD Lothariaball was created by a nephew of Charlemagne,vassal of one of these sons.The origin of the word Lorraine comes from his own name Lotharius (the king of Lotharingia).The Gaulish living there being few and having bein repulsed by the alamanic for centuries gave way to alamans and frankish.These following the ascension to the throne of many families from eastern countries since the Middle Ages,have been slavised.In 2016, he merged with Champagne-Ardenneball and Alsaceball to make Grand Estball.
