History
Before independence
File:Cerro Belmonte-icon.png Cerro Belmonteball was a neighborhood of Madridball (city), which had houses that were built by the ancestry of its inhabitants and with their own hands illegally. One day the city council proposed to build 7,200 new houses against urban deterioration and illegal settlements, and they were also promised to relocate the inhabitants of File:Cerro Belmonte-icon.png Cerro Belmonteball.
In addition, what bothered the neighbors a lot was the insignificant price established per m2 in the expropriation: 5,018 pesetas. At the same time, as an alternative for their relocation, they were only offered 2 areas far from Cerro Belmonteball: Vallecas or Villaverde.
The inhabitants of File:Cerro Belmonte-icon.png Cerro Belmonteball did not like this project at all, and they did not allow themselves to be expropriated, so they began to go on hunger strikes, to demonstrate in the mayor's house, to run lock-ups in churches and to set up barriers in the streets to camp.
In July 1990, the residents of File:Cerro Belmonte-icon.png Cerro Belmonteball had the idea of going to the embassy of 
Cubaball asking 
Fidel Castro for political asylum, and also telling him everything that was happening. It should be said that at that time Spainball had a diplomatic conflict with Cubaball.
Their claims reached Fidel Castro, who saw in that fight an opportunity to exalt his Cuban regime in favor of the inhabitants of File:Cerro Belmonte-icon.png Cerro Belmonteball. For this reason, he made available to the residents of File:Cerro Belmonte-icon.png Cerro Belmonteball 10 plane tickets so that they could travel to Cubaball.
In the end there were 25, where they stayed for 10 days with all expenses paid. Fidel Castro received them. He then spoke about them for 45 minutes in the speech on the “37th anniversary of the assault on the Moncada Barracks”, putting them as an example of the “true Spanish people”.
On August 20, a lawyer announced that if the city council did not improve the negotiating conditions in September, File:Cerro Belmonte-icon.png Cerro Belmonteball would proclaim itself an independent state.
Declaration of independence
The first week of September, File:Cerro Belmonte-icon.png Cerro Belmonteball held a referendum like , in which the "yes" to independence won with 212 in favor, while the "no" only got 2 votes. At that time, File:Cerro Belmonte-icon.png Cerro Belmonteball lived between 214 and 250 people.

And that is how File:Cerro Belmonte-icon.png Cerro Belmonteball proclaimed itself an independent state in the form of a 
kingdom, in addition to including the Principality of Villaamil and the County of Peña Chica. The declaration of independence of File:Cerro Belmonte-icon.png Cerro Belmonteball from Spainball appeared in many international media and they asked for recognition by 
UNball.
They created their own constitution, their own anthem called "Queremos pan, queremos vino, queremos al alcalde colgado de un pino" (We want bread, we want wine, we want the mayor "hanging" from a pine tree) and their own flag, with two small red stripes on the sides and a large white stripe in the middle, but they put a star in the middle like that of the 
Community of Madridball and they asked to Community of Madridball to remove a star from his flag. It also closed its borders with the rest of Spainball.
To finance the economy of the state, they installed a toll on the Sinesio Delgado highway. They also created their own currency, whose value was 5,018 pesetas, alluding to the price they had put on the square meter of their house.
End of independence
Finally, the city council decided to annul the expropriations and renegotiated the conditions with the inhabitants of File:Cerro Belmonte-icon.png Cerro Belmonteball. Therefore, the declaration of independence of Cerro Belmonteball ended and he decided to rejoin to Spainball.
The independence of File:Cerro Belmonte-icon.png Cerro Belmonte lasted 1 week, it was not recognized by any country (although it enjoyed the support of Fidel Castro) and it measured 30,415 square meters.
