On 29 September 2016, a military confrontation between India and Pakistan began. India said that it had conducted surgical strikes against militant launch pads across the Line of Control in Azad Kashmir, and inflicted "significant casualties". Pakistan rejected Indian claim and said that no strike took place. Pakistan also allowed international media to visit the Line of control to see the truth. As a result, international media outlets started questioning Indian claim which caused huge embarrassment for the Indian government. Further more, even United Nation reported that its Observer Group (present in the region) noticed no such operation being conducted on the Pakistani side.
