The Catalan Republicball (1931) was a proclaimed state within the Iberian Federation, existing between 14 and 17 April 1931.
History[edit]
It was a short-lived ball proclaimed in 1931 by the Catalan president Francesc Macià as a republic within an "Iberian Federation" (a few hours after the proclamation of the Second Spanish Republicball) in the hope that other Spanish territories would also proclaim themselves republics in order to constitute an Iberian Confederation.
The proclamation was suspended three days later, when after a debate between the Catalan president and three Spanish ministers they agreed that the government of Catalonia would be renamed Generalitat de Catalunya and integrated into the Spanish Republicball, in addition to granting a Statute of Autonomy to
Cataloniaball.
