Bavarian Soviet Republicball was a short-lived Socialist state located in modern-day Bavariaball in southern Germanyball.

    History

Bavariaball was born as a 2ball, adopted by Germaniaball, then Holy Roman Empireball and finally German Empireball. After the end of World War I and the defeat of the Central Powers, German Empireball died and was succeeded by Weimar Republicball. During the November Revolution, the Weimar Republicball was too large for one State to control all of its territory at the same time during a revolutionary crisis. This was an important reason for Bavaria’s unique trajectory until the movement was crushed throughout the rest of the country. On the 7th of November, 1918, the democratic revolution immediately handed over power to the USPD, with Eisner as the government’s president, with considerable anarchist influence (Mühsam and Landauer). On the 8th of November, the People's State of Bavaria would be declared, with the capital being in Munich.
The USPD having received 2.5% of the vote(in the recent elections in February), a conflict necessarily erupted between the recently-elected general assembly and the USPD central power which, paying close attention to the appearances of the electoral game, appeared to be an ultra-minority. This conflict seemed to be easy to resolve since Eisner, at the end of February, decided to faithfully submit his letter of resignation to the “peoples’ representatives”. As he was entering the assembly, however, he was assassinated.
The central committee of the Bavarian councils proclaimed a general strike. The Landtag spontaneously dispersed. In Bavaria, the situation can be described as a toss-up between the councils and the parliaments. Eisner’s funeral was the occasion for a massive demonstration. The councils implemented more dictatorial measures: they arrested 50 hostages, shut down the capitalist press, and tried to arm the working class. Except for these measures, the councils did not take advantage of the situation of Bavaria. The councils handed over power to the Landtag, which elected an SPD-USPD government, presided over by Johannes Hoffmann of the SPD.
In other regions of Germany, the Freikorps intervened to restore the powers seized by the councils from the local assemblies, but in Bavaria the councils themselves surrendered their power.
On April 6-7, the creation of a “Soviet Republic” was proposed by Gustav Landauer and proclaimed by the USPD, anarchists and even some members of the SPD, after being influenced by the recent communist revolution in Hungary. Ernst Toller would be made the head of the government.
Hoffmann, president of the old government, formed a new one in Bamberg. He rallied various cities to his cause, and the peasants refused to supply the city of Munich. However, the initial anti-socialist assault on the Soviet Republic was annihilated in Munich. After the assault, the KPD led by Eugen Levine and with the blessing of Lenin, seized power of the Bavarian Soviet Republic.
On April 13, factory delegates created a committee led by the Communist Party of Germany. They proclaimed a ten day general strike, paid for by the factory owners (who, consequently, were not suppressed), in order to allow the workers to prepare for combat. An army was formed, based on the working class. The revolutionaries took complete possession of the central rail station, but the problems of supply would still be felt.
With the beginning of the civil war in Bavaria, the communists initially had the upper hand in combat. However, Hoffmann was able to strike a deal with the Freikorps under Oven. The Soviet Republic would fall after months of fighting with the Freikorp paramilitaries. Landauer would be assassinated, Levine would be executed, Mühsam would be taken prisoner, and Ernst Toller, would flee to the United States.
The Bavarian Soviet Republicball tried to secede from the Weimar Republic during the German Revolution of 1918-19. Despite its best efforts, however, it was eventually defeated and annexed back into Weimar Republicball's clay.
