Abbacy of Buxheimball was a Holy Roman Imperial abbacyball.

History

From around the 10th century to 1100, the estate of Buxheim belonged to the chapter of Augsburg cathedral, however after centuries of declination, the land that was Buxheim was given to the Carthusians who were able to revive Buxheim both spiritually and economically, however they grew hostile attention from the nearby city of Memmingen who occupied it for a while but after persuading the Holy Roman Emperor, the charter house was declared reichsfrei and so the Abbacy of Buxheim was founded in 1548. A couple centuries later, it was dissolved during secularisation and was passed on fo the Count of Ostein.
